Our house on a hill is surrounded by tall oaks housing murders of crows. From anywhere at any time you can hear their caws, clicks, coos, rattles and purrs. They are the protecters of songbirds who we often hear out-singing the crows' flamboyant chatter. We have really grown to love and treasure these funny, clever creatures and that's why Jude chose the King Crow as the subject of this series of personalized art print/drawings he's making to raise money for a climbing camp in Tokyo.
He started by carving a fleeing crow into a linoleum block. Then he rolls the block with ink and presses it onto printmaking paper. Once the crow dries, he draws the crow's treasure and crown with vibrant Posca acrylic paint pens.
